The June Release is a water lover's dream. From ocean dwellers to beach bums, you'll find it all. This month's Create in Color feature from Sandy provides the perfect technique for accentuating those beachy scenes and poolside parties.

Hey everyone, it's Sandy Allnock, and I need a pool for my nap today. Anyone else need to join me??

The Hey, Sunshine stamp set from this month's release inspired me to float away in my dreams at least.

I got out my Copic markers to create a scene for this little girl, and sketched in the water — I deliberately kept it really loose, to show you it needn't be perfect to look like water. The sun is constantly changing the lines and making them shimmer...so don't tell yourself you can't do this — just try it out and see!

I picked good strong colors for the girl and her float and ball — that allows the water to be a secondary, supporting element since people will look at her. Here are the colors I used:

The little white highlights on the tops (centers!) of the plastic items make them look plastic; putting those strong white highlights on her skin will make her look shiny, but maybe if she's all lathered up properly with oil, she really could be shiny!

I'm excited to be heading out to MFT in a few days to color along with lots of students; it'll be such fun to meet everyone! If you're coming, and you've bought my Bible journaling book, please feel free to bring it for signing — I'd be happy to do that during breaks!
