📚 Time to Hit the Books — Summer School 2020 Starts Today!
One of our favorite regular educational series is our set of Summer School classes. Understanding and internalizing different design concepts allows you to bring your ideas to life. With a little practice, these ideas will quickly become intuitive, leading your card designs to come together with minimal effort.
Over the course of the next five days, we’ll bring you videos and projects designed to help you understand these basic principles, and incorporate them into your own crafting. Not only do you get to put your student hat on, your participation means you also are in the running to win an MFT shopping spree! Keep reading for today's lesson, and all the details for submitting homework for your chance to win.
Today’s Lesson: Visual Triangle
Creating a visual triangle within your card design provides an enjoyable experience for your recipient by creating a “path” for their eyes to travel. The idea of a visual triangle is that you use a trio of common elements or similar colors, placed as if at the points of a triangle, to direct the eyes around your card design.
Join Karolyn today to see how she created this stunning ink-blended trio of hummingbirds, precisely placed at the points of her visual triangle. You'll notice that she's integrated multiple triangles into her design, opting to include the design feature in the placement of her accent sequins as well.
Watch Summer School 2020 | Visual Triangle on YouTube or by playing the embedded video below.
This week you’re the student, and instead of grades, we’ve got prizes! Using today’s lesson, create a project that exemplifies what you learned and upload it using the link below. Once you've completed all five lessons, don't forget to grab the graphic above to proclaim your graduation status!
All entries must be submitted by noon EDT on August 14. Winners will be announced here on the blog on Saturday, August 15.
