Today's Designer Spotlight features a couple of cards from Yan Au. We loved the combination of northern lights with the November products, and thought you might like to learn how she created them!

This first card has wonderfully colored images from North Pole Pals seated in front of a stunning aurora borealis background. Yan started by using watercolors as a base. Then, she added some white and fluorescent poster colors to create that northern light effect.

This second card could be the swirl of the ice skates on the sweet bear from Warm Winter Hugs in the background, but it also resembles northern lights! To create this look on your card, use a toned gray sketch paper with a medium surface (such as Strathmore), and color with Prismacolor colored pencils. White looks gorgeous coming from the swirl, but also imagine the possibilities of pinks and greens for the true aurora look!
