You Have My Heart

Join us in welcoming Lea Lawson back to the blog. She’s sharing a love-themed card inspired by this week’s Sketch Challenge. I love how she completed the sentiment stamped with the Smitten with You set by adding the iconic die-cut heart created with Blueprints 15.

Valentine’s Day is almost here! Are you frantically whipping up some last minute cards to give to the people that you love?  If so, look no further than this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch #215!  It is simple, but packs an awesome design punch!

I’ve created a bold card full of rainbow stripes & script, paired with the Smitten with You stamp set and a couple of Blueprints Die-namics.  Here is how I created the card, step by step!

  1. Make an A2 card from Smooth White Card Stock.
  2. Trim a small block of rainbow striped paper, and adhere to the bottom of the card.
  3. Trim a panel of black script paper, and die cut a circle from the bottom of it.
  4. Adhere the paper block to the right side of the card with foam adhesive.
  5. Trim a 3/4″ strip of white cardstock, then stamp the sentiment onto it.
  6. Die cut the tab and heart from the striped paper.
  7. Adhere the tab next to the stamped sentiment, then cut banner edges to the paper strip.
  8. Adhere the sentiment strip with foam dots over top of the cutout circle.
  9. Tuck & adhere the tab slightly underneath the scripted paper block.
  10. Accent the tab and the heart with jewels to finish.

This card could be given to anyone you love, including your spouse or significant other, children, family & friends!  I hope you choose to use the sketch for some last minute Valentines….and can’t wait to see what you create!  Have an awesome day!

You Are the Icing on My Donut

I’m so excited to be guest blogging today! Thanks, MFT, for having me. The February release is amazing, amirite? I got the opportunity to play around with the Donuts and Sprinkles stamp set and Donuts Die-namics for today’s card.

This combo just makes its own cards. Big donut + big sentiment + plus a stamped pattern = done! I added some inking to the edges of my donut and frosting, added the sentiment and sprinkles with Versamark and embossed them, and added my image panel to a kraft card base I’d stamped with a random pattern using the tiny donut stamps in the set. Thanks again to MFT, Jody and Stephanie for having me as a guest. I have one more card to share over at my blog if you’d like to pop on over.

Smitten with Lea

Join us in welcoming Lea Lawson to the blog! She’s sharing two beautiful cards with all of us today.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, but I think it is important to give love notes to your special someone all throughout the year! So for my card today I created a love card without a Valentine’s Day theme to it! I started by layering blocks of vellum & heart bokeh paper together. I then stamped the three hearts from the All My Love stamp set onto it, covered them in gold glitter embossing powder, and then heat set them. I stitched two lines to it, and then adhered the entire block to a white card base. I then splattered some gold mist to the front.

Next I stamped the sentiment from Smitten with You to a strip of white cardstock, then trimmed it to look like an arrow. I layered it with a knot of gold thread to the front of the card using dimensional adhesive. I added a gold enamel bow to the sentiment arrow to finish it!

Be sure to use your love themed goodies from My Favorite Things all year long, and create sweet sentiments for your favorite people all year long!

I love bright & cheery colors, and I happen to think they are perfect for a nice thank you cards! And combining My Favorite Things stamps & Die-namics makes putting them together a breeze!

I started with an aqua colored card base, then die cut the dotted border from it. I added a strip of white cardstock underneath to really make them pop! Then I die cut the polka dot paper using the angled block & circle from Blueprints 18. I adhered the block to the bottom of the card using dimensional adhesive. I diecut the circle again from yellow star paper, and adhere it inside the circle on the angled paper block.

Then I die cut the star using Blueprints 18 from red & white striped paper. I layered them inside of the circle, popping up the inside star with dimensional adhesive. I die cut the banner from oatmeal card stock, and stamped the sentiment onto it. I adhered the sentiment banner below the die-cut stars. To finish, I threaded three buttons with twine and accented the circle & sentiment banner with them.

Using the Blueprints 18 Die-namics is an easy way to mass produce really amazing cards! The bright colors would be perfect for sending out thank you cards after a birthday party!

Welcome to the Party, Karin!

How great is this idea for a birthday invitation or party activity? A photo of the birthday boy provides the perfect canvas and a handful of die-cut accents created with the Photo Booth Props Die-namics (slide them into a coordinating envelope you’ve created with the You’ve Got Mail Die-namics!) allows the recipient to have some fun dressing up the man of the hour.

Wait, did I say guest post? I guess technically, this is Karin’s last guest post but that’s only because with our February release countdown (which starts in just two days!) Karin is joining us as the newest member of the design team. Welcome, Karinwe’re so glad to have you.

Watercolor Dream

When it comes to beautifully unique backgrounds, Barbara can’t be topped. She’s got a way with combining subtle colors and textures into a background that provides interest to the card without overwhelming the layers positioned on top.

The Tiny Hearts Background is the perfect vehicle for adding heat embossing and a stunning watercolor resist look created with MFT ink refills. Background stamps and stencils allow for so many different mixed media techniques!

We’d love to see what you’re doing with MFT background stamps and stencils! Make sure to tag #mftstamps when you share your projects on social media so we can give you some love.

Simple layers of color are punctuated by a classic die-cut heart and stamped birthday sentiment. The Wild Things stamp set isn’t all about the animals (though, they are pretty fabulous.) There’s a great collection of versatile sentiments as well! Mix and match your supplies and see what you come up with.

Wild Things includes a full menagerie of furry friends for your cards and projects. I’d be lyin’ if I said I wasn’t smitten with this charming fellow. Karin’s simply layered design allows him to stand out against a colorful backdrop and Stitched Scallop Edges Die-namics grass.

A pretty scalloped window from the Peek-a-Boo Circle Windows Die-namics frames a stamped flower from the Desert Bouquet set. Karin finished the card off with a perfectly placed stamped sentiment.

Wild for Pure Innocence

The incredibly talented Karin Åkesdotter is with us today sharing two beautiful cards featuring Pure Innocence characters and some extraordinary coloring.

The Roarin’ Good Day character is perfectly framed within the charming scalloped hole Karin created with the Peek-a-Boo Circle Window Die-namics. The window puts the focus right on the beautifully colored, sweet-not-scary tiger…right where it belongs.

This darling Wild for You girl is ready for safari. Once again, Karin wows with her coloring and perfect framing. A simply stamped sentiment and a bit of added dimension make both of these Pure Innocence beauties interesting to look at and simple to assemble.
